Thomas C.

September 15, 1946 – March 30, 2026
Age 79, of Morris, Illinois, formerly of Oak Park, Illinois, died on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Serenity Estates in Morris.
Born on August 15, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, Thomas Charles was a son to Mathais and Jeanette (Nowak) Sasgen. He was raised and educated in Oak Park and River Forest, Illinois and graduated from Proviso East High School with the class of 1964. He married the love of his life, Peggy and together they began their lives as one.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy for over twelve years, working aboard nuclear submarines. After his military service, he began a long career at the Dresden Nuclear Power Plant, where he spent more than three decades in the radioactive storage division before retiring. In retirement, he remained active by volunteering at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, contributing his time to the submarine exhibit. He was also a dedicated member of the United States Submarine Veterans Association.
He found his greatest joy outdoors, whether duck hunting, fishing, or taking quiet walks through Goose Lake Prairie. Thomas also had a dry sense of humor that those close to him appreciated. Above all, he was a proud American who deeply loved his country.
Thomas is survived by his sister, Theresa Mikrut; sister-in-law, Vicki Sasgen; nieces and nephews: Karl Sasgen, David Mikrut, Larissa Sasgen, and Carol Thill, as well as his good friend Lisa Flanagan.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and wife, Peggy (Wood); brother, William Sasgen and nephew, Thomas Mikrut.
