Obituary

Tina Strubin

Age 53 of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Lockport, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois.

Born December 22, 1972 in Crestwood, Illinois, Tina Marie was a daughter of Antal and Mary (Scolfield) Szegedi. She was raised in Homer Glen, Illinois and graduated from Lockport Township High School with the Class of 1990. Tina completed her studies to be a Teacher's Aide, serving special needs children at several school districts.

One of her great passions working with animal rescues, particularly It's A Pittie Rescue in Peotone, Illinois in support of her love for pit bulls. Tina was an avid reader, and enjoyed expressing herself by crafting and singing. She also appreciated the peace she found in nature, whether it was going fishing or on a long hike.

Though her years with us ran short, Tina made the most of her time and lived life to the fullest. She was a beloved daughter, wife, and mother whose life brought joy to all who knew her.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Szegedi; her husband, Andrew Strubin of Wilmington, and son, Ethan Jackson of Wilmington; her special aunt, Kathy (Juan) Rosario, mother and father-in-law: Richard and Judy Strubin of Wilmington; two sisters-in-law: Lisa (Chris) Sikaras and Rachel (Keith) Phelan; two nephews: Matthew and Michael Phelan; numerous cousins, and her good friend Terry Garvey, Jr.

Tina was preceded in death by her father; sister: Dr. Sandra "Susu" Szegedi; brother-in-law, Rich Strubin; and one child in infancy, Gabriel.

Per her wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and a memorial service is being planned at a later date.
