Age 79 of Morris, Illinois, passed away Wednesday March 3, 2021 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born October 27, 1941 in Aurora, Illinois, Virginia Mary was a daughter of John P. and Mae Anna (Pillatsch) Becker. She was a graduate of Aurora East High School with the Class of 1959, and on November 10, 1962, Virginia married Gerald J. Diederich in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Aurora.

Gin was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. One who loved children, and whose focus was always on kids, Gin served as a Girl Scout leader in years past, and took pleasure in being active with her girls when they were growing up and beyond. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, and enjoyed volunteering at Immaculate Conception School, The Morris Public Library and with Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jerry; four children: Debra (Robert) Gregorash of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Lisa (Jeffrey) Cooper of Danville, Illinois, Cheryl (Robert) Spanske of Normal, Illinois and Karen (Jason) Casey of Plainfield, Illinois; (12) grandchildren: Ty Gregorash, Andrew Gregorash, Teresa Cooper, Alora Cooper, Lee Cooper, Sara Cooper, Jeremiah Cooper, Christopher Spanske, Jordan Spanske, Ryan Casey, Grant Casey and Norah Casey; one great grandson, Brecken Morgan; one sister, Frances Ann (the late Arthur) Sittler of Newark, Illinois and one brother, Robert John ( the late Bonnie) Becker of Huntingdon, Tennessee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Diane Diederich of Minoqua, Wisconsin and nieces and nephews: Jill (Mark) Dunne, Amy (Jake) Schoeder, Tracy (Steve) Santelman, Jeff Sittler, Scott (Nina) Sittler, Brad (Danielle) Becker and Dawn Becker, as well as numerous cousins and many friends.

Gin was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae Becker and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Al and Marcella Diederich.

The family will receive friends for a COVID observant walk through visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris on Friday, March 5, 2021 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will follow Saturday morning, March 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Jason Stone presiding.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Morris, Illinois, and Gin’s grandchildren will act as both pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
