Age 95 of Morris, Illinois and formerly of Gardner, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Regency Care of Morris.

Born February 6, 1926 in Morris, Illinois, Virginia Mae was a daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Patton) Uerkwitz. She was raised and educated in Morris and attended Morris schools. On February 23, 1946, Virginia married Harry W. Wollgast, and together they made a home, farmed and raised a family in rural Gardner. She was a member of Goodfarm Trinity Lutheran Church, and in addition to supporting Harry's in all of his endeavors, Virginia was a dedicated homemaker who cherished her family.

Survivors include her children: Sandra Lichner of Florida, Diana (Dana) Hillman of Pennsylvania, Deborah Christensen of Morris and David (Debbie) Wollgast of Dwight; eleven grandchildren: Heather Siminski of Florida, Brad (Laurie) Hillman of Plainfield, Stacy (John) Hildy of Elmhurst, Heidi Lichner of Florida, Colleen (Craig) Wee of Pennsylvania, Angela (Nick) Bertino of Morris, David (Sara) Wollgast of Verona, Michael (Kelley) Wollgast of North Carolina, Mary Wollgast of Joliet, Annie (David) Sims of South Wilmington and Theresa (David) Damron of Marseilles; (18) great grandchildren, and one brother, Butch (Ada) Uerkwitz of Missouri, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry on August 30, 2012; sister, Pauline Cagle; two brothers: Donald Uerkwitz and John Uerkwitz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bernhard (Anna) Wollgast; William Wollgast; Dorothy Wollgast; Helen (Ralph) Chamness and Lee Wollgast, and her son-in-law, Richard "Doc" Christensen.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Goodfarm Trinity Lutheran Church, 515 East Stonewall Road in rural Dwight on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM. Those wishing to participate in Virginia’s services virtually are welcome to join the live stream beginning on Wednesday 11:00AM. A link for the service will be available on Virginia’s memorial page.

Reverend William T. Mitschke will officiate and burial will follow in Goodfarm Cemetery.

Those wishing to attend the services both in church and at the graveside are kindly asked to comply in wearing facial coverings, per the current State mandate.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and staff of Regency Care of Morris and Lightways Hospice of Joliet.
