Walter W. Homan

Age 81 of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Perry, Georgia, passed away Saturday January 25, 2020 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born June 2, 1938 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Walter was a son of Roy Edward and Mary Luella (nee Bunting) Homan. He was raised and educated in Vicksburg, Michigan, graduated from high school, and enlisted into the United States Navy where he would serve honorably for 22 years as a corpsman until military retirement. Following his military service, Walter began a career as an independent contractor in Georgia until he retired.

Survivors include his son, Christopher (Donna) Homan of Wilmington, Illinois, and his step-daughter, Alison (Andrew) Tillman-Bender of Macon, Georgia; six grandchildren: Candice (Michael) Arnone, Cassiopia (Ryan) Isachsen, Cody (Mo) Vaughn, Carson Eidson, Isabella Ewing, and Lillian Bender; five great grandchildren: Nathaniel and Lincoln Isachsen, Isaac and Sloane Vaughn, and William Arnone; and his first wife, Roseann Stratton.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Sue Homan; one granddaughter, Carly Homan; one great grandson, John Christopher Arnone; and twelve siblings: Harrison Homan, Michael Homan, Roy Homan, Billy Homan, Sarah Cathran, Louise Green, Virginia Francisco, Evelyn Homan, Marion Myers, Robert Homan, Stan Homan, and Cleo Minnis.

Per Walter’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a private inurnment will take place at Lebanon Cemetery in Hawkinsville, Georgia, where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Sue.
