Wanda N. Cagley

Age 96 of Gardner, Illinois, formerly of Streator, Illinois passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Loyola University Medical Center in Proviso Township, Illinois.

Born October 21, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, Wanda was a daughter of Harley and Marie (McDaniel) Goldman. She was raised and educated in Terre Haute, Indiana, and on March 21, 1951 she married Merle Cagley in Cornell, Illinois, and together they would make their home and raise their family in Streator, Illinois.

Wanda enjoyed spending time watching game shows, playing board games, and completing jigsaw puzzles. She was especially fond of testing her luck playing bingo or nickel slot machines anywhere she could play them. Above all else, Wanda loved her family with all heart and treasured any time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons: Michael Cagley of Gardner, Illinois, Rick (Pat) Cagley of Mazon, Illinois, and Terry (Cheryl) Cagley of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; six grandchildren: Amanda (Anthony) Scaglione, Samantha (Christopher) Yates, Jacob Cagley, William (Takara) Cagley, Jessica (Raymond) Bolinger, and Kerri Smith; fifteen great grandchildren: Johnny, Ava, A.J., Gianna, Ciara, Kameil, Charlie, Amelia, Miriam, Alias, Sebastian, Elijah, Willow, Silas, and Daisy, with one more expected in February; brother and sister: Joanne and Glenn; numerous nieces and nephews, and her caretaker, Annette Lingwai, who was most appreciated by Wanda and her family.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; one son, Bill Cagley; and her brothers and sister: Gene, Lester, and Mary “Wee-Wees”.

Per her wishes cremation rites are being accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington from 11:00 a.m. until the time of eulogy service at 1:00 p.m.

Wanda will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington with her husband, Merle, and her son, Bill.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Wanda’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
