Age 90, of Morris, Illinois, died on Monday, April 13, 2026, at The Gardens at Park Pointe.
Warren Paul Hatteberg was born on November 6, 1935 to Louis and Marie (Roisland) Hatteberg in Morris. He attended grade school in Lisbon, Illinois and Newark High school, graduating from the Augustana Academy in Canton, South Dakota in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1956 until 1958 and then continued in the reserves for four more years.
Warren farmed for several years, and in 1974 became part owner of United Auto Center in Aurora, Illinois. In 1997 the was business was sold, and he then worked at Lisbon Implement, Fox Valley Coins and Kindelspire Auto Parts until his retirement in 2019.
Warren was married to Sally (Conklin) on August 13, 1960, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Sally, daughter Lori (Ken) Cook of Warrenville, Illinois, son, Bentley (Beth) Hatteberg of Morris; seven grandchildren: Garrett (Jonelle) Cook, Allie (Kyle) Keck, Tyler (Melissa) Cook, Emma Cook, Tess (Collin) Grogan, Grant Hatteberg; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Judah Cook, Elias Cook, Malachi Cook, Kory Keck, Briar Keck, Carter Grogan, Caleb Grogan, Selah Grogan, and one more due in July to Tess and Collin Grogan, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Janelle Kristen in 1981, his parents Louis and Marie, one brother, Eugene and his wife Betty, as well as a sister, Joyce and her husband Robert Chally and their son Bruce Chally.
Warren was a lifelong member of the West Lisbon Church, serving as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. Warren also served on the Cup of Cold-Water Ministries board.
Warren enjoyed antiquing under the business Nettle Creek Antiques with locations in several antique malls. He loved hunting, fishing, reading, travel and cattle on the farm. Along with Sally, they spent many winter months in Arizona. Highlighting their travels were their trips to Arizona to attend the Chicago Cubs spring training, a trip to Israel and traveling to England and Norway where he visited the Hatteberg River and Hatteberg Waterfalls. He loved to hear and study his Norwegian heritage. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and going to all their activities. His faith and love for Jesus was the foundation to his life and his love for others.
Memorials may be made as gifts in Warren's name to West Lisbon Church.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at West Lisbon Church in Newark, Illinois from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Andrew Sely will be officiating. A burial will immediately follow at West Lisbon Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
