William Robert L. Buis

Age 69 of Wilmington, and formerly of Berwyn, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Born February 2, 1951 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, William Robert Lee was a son of Bill Emmert and Billie Jean (Smith) Buis. He was raised in Middlesboro prior to moving to Chicago, where he graduated from Austin High School with the Class of 1969. During his high school years, Bill served as a counselors aid and belonged to the Industrial Clubs of America. He was active in Boy Scouts and attended the Salvation Army Church.

Bill worked as a meat cutter for 50 years, and held employment with Dominicks for 44 years and Jewel for 6 years. His hobbies included bowling, roller skating and line dancing, and over the years he took pleasure in fishing. Bill loved anything old and appreciated antiques. He enjoyed going to car shows, and loved tending to his lawn.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; five children: Jay (Renee) Buis and Jason (Emily) Buis, both of Villa Park, Chrissy Buis (fiance', Rich Eversman) of Oak Lawn, Beth Buis (fiance', Roger Smith) of Chicago and Veronica Buis of Wilmington; eight grandchildren: Kristin, Crystal, Jackson, Taylor, Paige, Paiten, Reyna and Riko; three brothers: Eddie (Bert) Buis of West Virginia, Joe (Debbie) Buis of Arizona and Marvin (Kathy) Buis of Northlake, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marie (Roy) Engstrom of Elgin, Greg (Susan) Milauskas of Winfield, John (Cheryl) Milauskas of Hoffman Estates, Cathy (Mike) LaFond of Batavia and Tom (Melinda) Milauskas of Pingree Grove, as well as (24) nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service 6:00 p.m. Pastor Jeff Logsdon from Island City Baptist Church will officiate, and cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made as gifts in Bill’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
