WILLIAM EUGENE CARNEGIE "BUMPS"

Age 73 of Morris and formerly Rock Island, passed away Wednesday September 28, 2005 at his home.

Born October 03, 1931 in Coal City, Bumps was a son of the late William J. and Marie (Swartz) Carnegie. He was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1949. Bumps was a veteran of the First Division of the US Marine Corp in the Korean Conflict. On February 28, 1959 Bumps married Carol Chvatal in the First Presbyterian Church in Coal City and together they lived most of their married life in Rock Island, until moving to Morris in 2003. Bumps was a Real Estate Broker in the Quad Cities area and was a member of the Rock Island County Realtors Association.

Survivors include his wife Carol; One sister Wilma Martin of Coal City; Five nieces: Cyndy Sampson of Morris, Susan (Larry) Tarman of Goose Lake, Lynne (Glenn) Smith and Lori Gleason both of Joliet and Debbie Carnegie of Colorado. Five nephews: Walter Martin of Joliet, Bill Martin of Diamond, Curt (Renee) Sampson of Morris and David Carnegie and Dean Carnegie both of Las Vegas, Nevada. Two sisters-in-law: Barbara Gleason of Joliet and Rosemary Carnegie of Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

Bumps was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Patricia Sampson, one brother John Carnegie, two brothers-in-law: Jack Chvatal and Gene Gleason and one niece Jackie K. Chvatal

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Saturday October 15, 2005 from 10:00AM until time of memorial service 11:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (1 block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Rev. Larry Boutelle from New Hope Prebyterian Church in Coal City will officiate.

Inurnment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Preferred memorials as gifts in Bumps memory may be extended to Grundy Community Hospice: 1802 Division Street, Suite 307, Morris, Illinois 60450-3107
