Yvonne Monson

Age 86, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Aperion Care in Niles Illinois.

Born January 20, 1938, in Channahon, Illinois, Yvonne was the daughter of John G. and Marcella J. (Black) Barber. 

Yvonne's life was a tapestry woven from the vibrant threads of several Illinois cities, including Joliet, Wilmington, Diamond, Melrose Park, and Niles. Amidst her nomadic journey, she found solace and strength as a proud member of the First Baptist / Island City Baptist Church in Wilmington, where faith and community intertwined to shape her identity and values.

Survivors include her two children: Michael (Meena) Monson of Chum Phae, Thailand and Eric (Liliya) Monson of Lake Thunderbird, Illinois; one brother, Thomas Barber; eight grandchildren, Debra (Jay) Fraze of Tarpon, Florida, Christina Wallace of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Ashlie and John Maitrejean of Muscoda, Wisconsin, Stephanie and Jeff Ahlers of Pontiac, Illinois, Alexis Monson of Saint Anne, Illinois, Taylor Monson of Coal City, Illinois, Tiffany Monson of Kewanee, Illinois, and Vlad Stepanov of Princeton, Illinois; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kyah Robinson, Jessica Fraze, Trista Fraze, Parker Wallace, Jada Doval, Miles Maitrejean, William Maitrejean, Emily Maitrejean, Madison Ahlers, Dallas Ahlers, Rayleigh Ahlers, Bentley Ahlers, Cassandra Collins, Donovon Collins, Walker Riley and Emersyn Knippenberg. 

Special acknowledgements are extended to her wonderful friends Pat Dempsey and Bonnie Huston. 

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Milton E. Monson; her daughter Denise Henson, and son-in-law Thomas Henson, and her sister-in-law Marsha Barber.

Cremation rites have been accorded. 

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service, 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
