Age 78 of Wilmington, passed away Saturday June 13, 2020 at Grand View Alzheimers Special Care Center in Peoria.
Born March 9, 1942 in Jacksonville, Illinois, Bernice Kay was a daughter of Crum and Thelma (nee Hill) Barbour. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School. Kay reached the level of supervisor at Personal Products in Wilmington, and retired after 26 years of service in 1993.
She was previously a member of the First Baptist Church in Channahon, and loved spending time outdoors and camping with her family at the Coal City Miner’s Club. Kay had a deep appreciation of music and would play with her husband’s local band, and also enjoyed going bowling.
Survivors include her four children: Sheila (Eric) Debelak of Marengo, Illinois, Roy (Cindy) Bradley, Jr. of Washington, Illinois, Douglas (Carol) Bradley of Wilmington, and Teresa (Detlef) Hultink of Holland, Michigan; fourteen grandchildren: Rachel Bradley, Kyle (Binh) Daniell, Blake (Aja) Daniell, Joshua Bradley, Bill (Tarra) Draino, Amy Draino, Jacob Bradley, Mitchell Bradley, Jonathon Wills, Trisha Bell, Kayla (Brian) Hopkins, Megan Vranich, Jonathan Hultink, and David Hultink; fifteen great grandchildren: Brianna, Elizabeth, Dylan, Aria, Blake, Violet, Brooklynn, Brandon, Lucy, Carl, Adriana, Zoey, Brycen, Connor, and Amelia; one sister and one brother: Judy (Joe) Midlock of Joliet, and Mike (Nancy) Barbour of Wilmington; one sister-in-law, Gloria Bonds of Johnston City, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by two husbands: Roy Bradley, Sr. in 1981, and Gordon “Doc” Richards in 2004; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Robert Strong, and one sister-in-law, Reita Vollmer.
Visitation and video tribute will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. In accordance with the state of Illinois Public Health Guidelines, visitors will be admitted in and out privileges as not to exceed a safe number with social distancing practices. Those wishing to participate in the services remotely are welcome to log on to the live stream webcast available on Kay’s Memorial Page. The services will begin at 1:00pm and be available to watch on demand following the services.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where Kay will be laid to rest with her husband, Roy.
