Larry Lee Ragain

“Butch”

Age 79 of Gardner and formerly of Wilmington, died Friday March 26, 2021 at his home.

Born June 11, 1941 in Kankakee, Illinois, Larry was a son of Miskel and Marge (Russell) Ragain. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1959, and went on to marry Sharon Cheney on March 19, 1960.

Larry was an operator with Local #150 Operating Engineers for more than 50 years, and enjoyed restoring old tractors and small engine repair. In addition he took pleasure in playing the guitar, playing cards and listening to country music.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sharon; children: Daniel (Cynthia) Ragain of Manteno, Denise (Barney) Castillo of Gardner, David (Donna) Ragain of Coal City, Dawn (Gary) Baietto of Mendota, Doreen (Dave) Howard of Braidwood, Diane (Mike) Landry of Gardner and Debra (Pete) Moreno of Peotone; (17) grandchildren; (12) great grandchildren; two brothers: Richard (Mary Ellen) Ragain and George (Doris) Ragain, both of Wilmington; sisters-in-law: Cindy Cheney of Wilmington, Colleen (Dave) Sartore of Pensacola, Florida, and Janet Villella of Tampa, Florida, and brother-in-law, Gary (Sharon) Cheney of New Lenox, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Miskel and Marge Ragain; sister, Shirley (Les) Sorensen; brother, Gerald “Joe” (Peggy) Ragain and his son, Donald Ragain.

A virtual Memorial Talk via Zoom will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. (Zoom Meeting ID: 606 381 8266 and Passcode: 516057).
