Obituary

Sharon Louise Gilbertson

Age 80, and a lifelong resident of Morris, Illinois passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Morris Hospital.

Born in Morris on May 5, 1939, Sharon was the daughter of Joseph Andrew and Mary Adele (Sarti) Gusta. She attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Morris Community High School with the Class of 1957. On June 19, 1960, Sharon married Roger Gilbertson in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and together they made their home and raised their family in Morris.

In addition to being the best wife and mother, Sharon worked in Dr. Aftab Khan’s office in Morris for (20) years and served as a crossing guard for Morris School District 54 for (40) years. She was a woman of devout Catholic faith who was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Sharon loved to cook and bake, and will be remembered as a competitive card player.

All who knew Sharon Louise Gilbertson would agree that she was truly beautiful on the inside and out. She was fully devoted to her family, and there was nothing she savored more than being surrounded by the love of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sharon was strong and resilient, and at the same time she was gracious, compassionate, and selfless. It was easy to see that she lived life to the fullest. Life will never be the same without Sharon here, but she leaves behind a timeless collection of memories that her loved ones will forever hold near and dear to their hearts.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Roger; two children: Paula (Bruce) Barr and Dana (Amy) Gilbertson, both of Morris; five grandchildren: Meghan (Erik) Klepp and Mallory (Rodrigo) Conde, both of Morris; Joel Barr of Denver, Colorado and Maria Gilbertson and Emma Gilbertson, both of Morris; five great-grandchildren: Deluca, Harper and Elliot Klepp and Isadora and Hugo Conde; one brother-in-law, Edward (the late Judy) Gilbertson of Joliet and her dear cousin Tommy Girot, who was like a brother.

Sharon was preceded in death by parents.
